Hello Friend,
I want to talk to you a bit more about Freedom today — why are you not surprised?! 😂
I’m realising every day more, that creating freedom is my absolute favourite, my biggest, and the most foundational, aspect of my entire work, ever.
Not only in my life & health coaching today, but also in the previous quarter century when I was singing and teaching people to sing, and before that, when I was creating trompe-l’œil murals and stained glass works that transformed spaces, and before that, when I was teaching languages, and as a kid, when I was helping other kids…
Beautiful as this life may be, down here our souls are momentarily trapped in all the many aspects of this physical world, and they strive to gain back a little bit of their native freedom wherever possible.
Our bodies can feel heavy and limiting. Not that much freedom to be found there at the best of times! We are very slow when moving through space, we cannot even pass through matter, our very life depends on air, water, food and rest, we’re rather vulnerable, we suffer in the heat and the cold. With our senses, we can only perceive a very small percentage of the world around us.
And at less ideal times, in addition to all of that, we feel pain, we get sick, we get even weaker with age.
Then there are our thoughts and emotions, which play out in the body-mind system, and which often keep us trapped too. The fears that make our hearts race, the sadness that makes our tears flow, the rage that sets our skin and blood on fire, and all those innumerable situations that give us a headache, a knot in the throat, a broken heart; that make the skin break out, the whole body tense up, the cortisol rise, the stomach churn….
Our fellow human beings often try to rob us of our freedom too. Our nearest and dearest make demands on us, so does society in all its facets, and so do all institutions, of whatever nature.
The result of all that is this chronic feeling of frustration and hopelessness that has always plagued humanity, and that has been escalating, and is running wilder than ever in the large majority of us right now. We have this illusion of freedom, but right under the surface of our so-called democracies and of our relative safety and comfort, most people feel caged when it comes to their choices, their health, their time, their money.
Our present times are witnessing a ghastly drop of all these – already puny – freedoms, even further down, to a whole new low.
Do we need to accept this? No! We don’t.
Accepting to surrender our sovereignty, at any level, may be the most comfortable thing to do there and then, but it’s never, ever, a good decision in the medium and long run.

Each and every one of us can be seen as a fractal of the whole, that is still connected to the whole, even when considered as an individual.
The individual and the whole can never be truly separated from each other, they will always be reflections of each other. You might know the beautiful quote from Gandhi:
“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.”
I was invited to speak on an American podcast a couple of days ago, and I was telling my host how much I love the huge power that resides in the seemingly small changes that we make at a personal level.
These changes can be huge! For ourselves AND for everyone else.
I developed the Freedom Framework as a big part of my coaching, because I kept seeing how most people think that if they had more time, more money, or more choices, they would feel free. But real freedom, the kind that cannot be taken away from us, doesn’t come from external options! It comes from inner permission.
If you’re feeling trapped in any area of your life, the best thing you can do is, to trace back what created this situation, one step after another, until you get to the very beginning of it.
And you’ll find that this is always a belief you hold. This belief causes a certain emotion in you. And that emotion is what makes it all happen.
To get out of this trap, you need to get out of that emotion, and to do that, you need to give yourself permission to question that belief you found, and take it apart.
The trunk of the Freedom Framework is emotional freedom. From there, all other freedoms grow out in all directions like branches with leaves and blooms on them, and its fruits are very sweet.
If the weather today is as nice where you are, as it is here, you might feel inspired to take a pen and a notepad and do some belief busting under a tree. Trees have this effect on us, they help us get clarity. I’m going to do just that!
Have a beautiful Sunday ❤️
